The exterior walls are a masonry material called AAC Block. It's lightweight and makes good carbon use of a typically costly material (concrete). The house collects 20,000 gallons of rain water in a cistern system. You can shower in rainwater and the grey water is used to water the landscape. Bricks were recycled and trees moved for shade.
